"NOTHING IS PRIVATE" TO PREMIERE AT SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

Toni's upcoming drama "Nothing is Private" will have its US premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, the film however is credited as "Towelhead" (which is the name of the book it's based on) so the film will be probably be named this way for its theatrical release. The life of a 13-year-old Arab-American girl is illuminated as she navigates her way through the confusing and frightening path of adolescence and sexual awakening. A date for its premiere will be announced closer to the festival's opening.

TONI COLLETTE RECEIVES AFI NOMINATION

Toni has received a nomination by the Australian Film Institute as International Best Actress for "Little Miss Sunshine". She shares the category with her "Muriel's Wedding" co-star Rachel Griffith (nominated for "Brothers and Sisters"), Rose Byrne (Damages) and Jacinda Barrett (The Last Kiss). TONI COLLETTE TO STAR IN "THE UNITED STATES OF TARA"

In what will be her first TV series gig in the U.S., Toni Collette has signed on to star in Steven Spielberg's Showtime comedy pilot "The United States of Tara." Thesp is aboard to play Tara Gregor, a wife and mother of two teenage kids who seems normal on the surface but actually suffers form dissociative identity disorder. Dark half-hour comedy will follow Tara as she deals with her various personalities - in the pilot, they include a teen girl and adult man - as they emerge during times of stress. Project came from an original Spielberg idea, repping his first series project for Showtime and his first comedy project in TV. Showtime entertainment prexy Robert Greenblatt said Collette topped his wishlist of actresses to play Tara. "When you're casting a show that requires an actress to not only play one complex character but in this case several, the road begins and ends with Toni Collette," said Greenblatt, who called the thesp "one of the best young actresses of her generation."

"THE DEAD GIRL" WINS GRAND PRIZE AT DEAUVILLE FILM FESTIVAL

Andre Techine and his jury breathed life into Karen Moncrieff's "The Dead Girl," awarding it the 33rd Deauville American Film Festival's grand prize as the 10-day celebration of trans-Atlantic cinema wrapped Sunday night. The discovery of the mysterious dead girl shatters the lives of complete strangers tied together by her brutal murder in this picture. The film was written and directed by Moncrieff and produced by First Look Studios and Lakeshore Entertainment. It features Toni Collette, Marcia Gay Harden and Giovanni Ribisi. "The fact that you, with your culture and your film culture, are here honoring American movies is really astounding to me," Moncrieff said in her acceptance of the honor.

TONI COLLETTE RECEIVES EMMY NOMINATION

Congratulations to Toni for receiving an Emmy nomination as Best Supporting Actress in a TV movie for "Tsunami: The Aftermath". She is nominated alongside Greta Scacchi (Broken Tail), Anna Paquin (Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee), Samantha Morton (Longford) and Judy Davis (The Starter Wife). 'NOTHING IS PRIVATE' TO WORLD-PREMIERE AT TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL

"Nothing is private" has benn announced as one of the gala presentations at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival, which will most likely mark the world premiere of the film. Also, its stars Aaron Eckhart and Toni Collette have been mentioned to attend the festival. A full schedule will be released in late July, the press release can be read here. Toni Collette is pregnant with her first child. The Australian star of movies such as Muriel's Wedding, Little Miss Sunshine and the Sixth Sense today confirmed she is expecting a child with husband Dave Galafassi. Asked whether she was pregnant, 34-year-old Collette replied: "Yes I am. "We're very happy. We are completely over the moon." She said it was a bit of a case of life imitating art, after playing pregnant women in her recent films. "It is strange the last three films I've done I have been pregnant," Collette said. "I'm just like, what is the universe trying to tell me. "But I think everything happens when it's meant to." Collette, who married Galafassi in January 2003, did not say what stage her pregnancy was at.

TONI AND THE FINISH TO PERFORM AT LIVE EARTH

Australian musicians will be first to take the stage in a series of seven international concerts to be televised globally as part of a climate change awareness campaign. Missy Higgins will join the newly re-formed Crowded House and a host of homegrown bands at Sydney's Aussie Stadium for the Australian concert to be held on July 7, the first of the seven Live Earth shows. The other cities hosting the concerts are New York, London, Shanghai, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Johannesburg. The event, which is aimed at prompting governments and business to help reduce carbon emissions, will be held over 24 hours and watched by an audience estimated at two billion people. Sydney concert promoter Michael Chugg today confirmed Higgins and Crowded House would perform on the Australian bill alongside Toni Collette with her band The Finish, Rob Hirst and Ghostwriters, Jack Johnson, The John Butler Trio, Wolfmother, Eskimo Joe, Paul Kelly, Sneaky Sound System and Melbourne band King Brown. "Live Earth will touch over two billion people with 24 hours of live music across seven continents and with an urgent, hopeful message to trigger a worldwide movement to combat the climate crisis and successfully solve it," Mr Gore said in a pre-recorded address. Live Earth events are billed as carbon-neutral, using recycled paper for ticketing and the ticket price includes public transport to the venues. Tickets to the Sydney concert go on sale for $99 on Friday May 18.

CANNES HONOUR FOR TONI COLLETTE

Toni Collette has been picked to join the film elite on the jury at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Collette will serve on the prestigious Palme d'Or jury, headed this year by British director Stephen Frears, who made the award-winning film The Queen. He and Collette will be joined by seven other personalities from the cinema and literary worlds, including actress Maggie Cheung from China, and Nobel Prize-winning author Orhan Pamuk from Turkey. Veteran directors Quentin Tarantino, Emir Kusturica, Gus Van Sant and Wong Kar Wai will be vying against a large group of up-and-coming young filmmakers for the top prize at this year's festival. The mix of old and new in the list of the 21 films competing for the Palme d'Or trophy during the May 16-27 event showed how the cinema event - the biggest in the world - was striving to remain fresh even as it celebrated its 60th year.

TONI TIPS HELEN MIRREN FOR OSCAR GLORY

According to Channel4, Toni Collette is tipping Bafta winner Helen Mirren to do the double and win an Oscar for The Queen. The Muriel's Wedding actress said: "If I said anybody else I'd probably be fooling myself. There seems to be a flood and it's well deserved - she's amazing in the film." The star isn't nominated for an Oscar herself but her film Little Miss Sunshine is up for a total of four awards including best motion picture. The movie has picked up a string of awards, including a pair of Baftas, and is tipped to do well on February 25.

"SUNSHINE" CAST WINS SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARD

"Little Miss Sunshine" has won the top prize at the Screen Actors Guild awards, giving the underdog film about a family of losers another big boost in the race for the Oscars. In a good omen for Little Miss Sunshine, which features Australian actress Toni Collette, three of the last four winners of the SAG award for best ensemble have gone on to win the Oscar for best picture. Last year, the award for best ensemble went to Crash, in a first sign that Brokeback Mountain did not have a lock on the Oscar, which Crash later won. Unfortunately, Toni didn't attend the SAG Awards, but her castmates Greg Kinnear, Steve Carrell, Alan Arkin and Abigail Breslin were present to accept the award.

Congratulations to Toni for receiving a Best Supporting Actress nomination by the British Academy Award (BAFTA) for "Little Miss Sunshine". Nominated in the same category are Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada), Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), Frances de la Tour (The History Boys) and Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls). "Little Miss Sunshine" has received 4 more nominations for Best Film, Achievement in Direction, Original Screenplay and Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Alan Arkin). FILMING ON "BLACK BALLOON" BEGINS

According to the West Australian, filming of Toni's new film "The Black Balloon" has begun today. The film deals with the challenges a young couple faces living with Thomas's brother's autism. The role of Thomas's mother will be played by Toni Collette. Directed by Elissa Downs, "Black Balloon" is produced by Tristram Miall who was responsible for Aussie silver screen classics such as Strictly Ballroom and Looking for Alibrandi. The cast of "Little Miss Sunshine", Alan Arkin, Abigail Breslin, Steve Carrell, Toni Collette and Greg Kinnear, has received an Ensemble nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award. Additionally, Abigail Breslin and Alan Arkin received Best Supporting Acting nomination for their performances. The SAG Awards will be handed out on January 25, 2007.
