ASIAN TSUNAMI COMING TO BIG SCREEN

HBO Films and BBC Two are joining forces to make TSUNAMI, an ensemble drama about the tidal wave that devastated the Andaman Coast in Thailand in December 2004.
The film will star Tim Roth, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sophie Okonedo, Toni Collette, Hugh Bonnville and
Gina McKee. Filming has just started in Phuket and Khaolak, Thailand. Tsunami covers the disaster and its aftermath from the vantage point of survivors, media and relief workers.
The movie will premiere at the end of the year. | 

COLLETTE MENTIONED TO STAR IN "TSUNAMI" MOVIE

Not sure if this is official already, but according to the World Entertainment News Network,
a star-studded cast including Tim Roth, Sophie Okonedo and Toni Collette have signed up to
star in a new TV movie about the tsunami that devastated the Indian Ocean coastline in
December 2004. The two-part film will follow different groups of people caught by the natural
disaster that killed an estimated 220,000 people. It will be aired by HBO in the US and the
BBC in Britain.

TONI NAMED A "CHAMPION OF THE WEST"

Toni Collette has been named one of the "2006 Champions of the West", a group that
includes Bishop Kevin Manning and cricket legend Mark Waugh. Catholic Outlook reports that the
awards were presented on 10 March at the "Celebrate the West" luncheon to raise funds for the
San Miguel Family Centre, an outreach of the De La Salle Brothers' BoysTown. The awards
recognise the unique contribution made to the culture of Western Sydney by the recipients in
the areas of public life, the arts, sport and business.
