TONI COLLETTE'S OVERALL ACCIDENT
Posted: 2007-03-27 |
Toni Collette once got the strap of her overalls caught when she was coming out of a
make-up trailer, and was left dangling in front of the crew. The 'Little Miss
Sunshine' star admitted the incident, which left her "groin" on display, was the most
embarrassing moment of her life. Australian actress Toni told the Guardian Weekend
magazine: "I was exiting a make-up trailer and the strap of my overalls got hooked on
the outside of the bus and I was literally hanging, with my overalls riding up my
groin, in front of the whole crew. "It was my most embarrassing moment." Toni, 34,
who is married to Dave Galafassi, says her greatest achievement is "continuing to
live off my hobby". The whole q/a with the Guardian Weekend (very interesting and funny,
so don't miss it) can be read

ROVE SIGNS UP LAUGH LADS
Posted: 2007-03-27 |
It has lost the word "live" from its title but the upcoming season of Rove may as
well be renamed Lots of Funny Aussie Blokes. Following the appointment of former Glass
House comedian Dave Hughes, 2DAY FM duo Hamish and Andy were yesterday announced as
the latest instalment to host Rove McManus' cast of comedians. With program regular
Peter Helliar still on board, the only funny fellas McManus has left to recruit are
Merrick and Rosso and Wil Anderson. Hollywood star turned singer Toni Collette
will be adding some necessary girl power to the Rove season premiere this Sunday
, while Aussie rock gods Silverchair will perform live. |

TONI COLLETTE HAS A WAY WITH A TUNE
Posted: 2007-03-12 |
Article courtesy The Courier Mail: Toni Collette and stage fright are not words you
expect to see in the same sentence. After all, she is one of this country's finest
all-round actors. The day we catch up on the phone also happens to be the day of the
Oscars ceremony and the splendid Little Miss Sunshine, in which Collette is part of a
superb ensemble cast, is up for best picture. She's certainly relaxed. "I've got the
washing machine going, I've been to the doctor, the dog's running around in circles
because we don't want to put her out in the rain. I haven't thought about it. I'll
watch it on the couch tonight like everyone else," she says. She also has something
else on her mind – she's off to band rehearsals preparing for the first national tour
by Toni Collette and the Finish, the band she fronts featuring her husband, drummer
Dave Galafassi, formerly of the rock band Gelbison. Collette has always enjoyed
singing. She's an old hand at musical theatre, which is how she got into acting in
the first place, and music has played an important role in her films such as Muriel's
Wedding and Cosi. Still, it's one thing performing for the cameras; quite another
unveiling your own songs for a paying audience. "Our first show was at the Basement
in Sydney. I was absolutely petrified!" Collette says, laughing. "I had to go to the
toilet six or seven times beforeha Full article can be read

TONI COLLETTE: POLICY OF TRUTH
Posted: 2007-03-07 |
Article courtesy Xpress Magazine: Toni Collette and her band, The Finish, will make
their debut performances in WA this Saturday, March 10, at the Rosemount Hotel and
Sunday, March 11, at the Fly By Night Club. Christie Eliezer reports. While growing up
in Sydney’s west in the ‘80s, Toni Collette did not — unlike her mates — wet her
panties over AC/DC or Guns N’ Roses, or a series of join-the-dots glam metal bands
whose boy singers were prettier and with better hair than they. “When I was young, we
lived in a street with a lot of Christian families,” Collette explains. “I was
friends with one of their daughters, and we went to these youth Christian events.
One night they showed us this video where if you played metal records backwards,
there’d be these satanic messages. So I never listened to those kind of records.
There was definitely an element of fear. My brothers listened to that kind of music,
and I’m like, `Oh man, you’re going straight to hell’ (laughs). It didn’t last long
but it did scare the shit out of me.” Full article can be read

TONI COLLETTE READY TO CALL THE SHOTS
Posted: 2007-03-05 |
Article courtesy The New Zealand Herald: After 17 years of acting, three-times Golden
Globe winner (actually, three time nominee ;-) Toni Collette believes she's at a
point in her career where she can call the shots. No longer is she driven to lend her
name to roles she isn't wholeheartedly interested in. "I've go to the point where I
don't want to work on anything I am not 100 per cent sure about," 34-year-old
Collette said from her home in Sydney. "I want to be in love with what I am doing,
otherwise it's not worth it. "Life's too short. I have been making movies since I was
17, it's more than half my life, and there is room to spread out a little." Collette
last year expanded her creative drive into songwriting with the release of her debut
album Beautiful Awkward Pictures, which features her husband Dave Galafassi on drums.

TONI COLLETTE HAS HOPES OF A BIG FINISH
Posted: 2007-03-05 |
Article courtesy
The Age: Toni Collette may be famous for movies, but as a child singing into a
hairbrush in the bedroom, it was pop stardom that she longed for. "I was the girl
trying out for the talent quests at the shopping centres and RSL clubs all across New
South Wales because my parents — God bless 'em — would drive me around following my
dream. "That's how performance began for me, and that led to musical theatre, which
led to straight acting, which took over |
|
over my life, really," she says on the phone from
her Sydney home. Collette's childhood reads like the script to her latest film, the
Academy Award-winning Little Miss Sunshine, in which Collette's character and her
family drive across the US to get her daughter to a beauty pageant. But Collette, who
is touring Victoria next week with her band the Finish to promote her debut album,
Beautiful Awkward Pictures, will not be traversing the state in a crowded van — she
can afford to fly. There are other luxuries not usually available to nascent singers,
such as being able to record the album in her own studio (which she built with her
musician husband Dave Galafassi in Berry, NSW), and releasing it on her own label,
Hoola Hoop.Read the full article
