"TOWELHEAD" TRAILER LAUNCHED
Posted: 2008-04-24 |
The theatrical trailer for "Towelhead" has been launched and can be downloaded in the
video archive. Judging the film from its first reviews after its Toronto screening I
expected it to be way darker and more disturbing than the trailer suggests. Or maybe that's
just a marketing trick. See it for yourself :-)

Jeff Daniels and Catherine O'Hara have been added to the cast of Sam Mendes' romantic
comedy for Universal's Focus Features, which is set to start production this week in
Connecticut. They join Maya Rudolph, John Krasinski, Allison Janney, Cheryl Hines, Toni
Collette, and more. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the not-yet-named film follows
the journey of an expectant couple traveling the U.S. in search of the right place to put
down their roots and raise a family. Mendes is directing off an original screenplay by
Dave Eggers (Where the Wild Things Are) and his wife, novelist Vendela Vida. Rounding out
the cast are Carmen Ejogo (Lackawanna Blues), Jim Gaffigan (My Boys), Melanie Lynskey
(Two and a Half Men), Chris Messina (Made of Honor), Kevin J. O'Connor (There Will Be

TONI COLLETTE JOINS SAM MENDES PROJECT
Posted: 2008-04-07 |
According to the Hollywood Reporter,
Toni Collette will star alongside John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph in Sam Mendes' upcoming
relationship comedy for Focus Features. Collette will play a college professor and close
family friend of a couple canvasing the country to find the best place to raise their
unborn child. She's convinced that their kid will end up dysfunctional no matter where
it's raised. Dave Eggers wrote the script with his wife, novelist Vendela Vida. Ed Saxon
and Big Beach's Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf are producing. Cheryl Hines also will
appear in the untitled feature, which is set to begin filming this month in Connecticut.
The project reunites Collette with Turtletaub and Saraf, who last joined forces for
another character-driven road comedy, "Little Miss Sunshine." It also gives Focus another
chance at a hit with the trio four years after it came close to producing "Sunshine".

COLLETTE GETS TO PLAY MUM

Toni Collette will spend the next few months in Los Angeles filming a television series -
her first role since becoming a mother in January. Collette was due to depart from Sydney
this weekend to begin filming The United States Of Tara, being produced by Steven Spielberg.
"She leaves this weekend for LA to commence shooting," said Collette's spokeswoman, via
email. The television series, which was written by Diablo Cody (who won an Oscar for Juno)
is based on a suburban mum dealing with multiple personality disorder. It is Collette's
first foray back into acting since the birth of her daughter Sage Florence in January.
Collette, who has been focusing on motherhood since the birth, is also believed to be
writing songs for a second album. Her spokeswoman confirmed Collette had continued to
write songs, but there is no release date for another album yet. "While there are no firm
plans for a second album, Toni is passionate about her music and is constantly writing,"
she said. Collette is expected to be based in LA with her husband Dave Galafassi and baby
Sage for at least the next six months. The couple are expected to emulate the filming
pattern of Collette's friend Rachel Griffiths, by returning to Australia during filming
breaks. |
